Our Take

We send most of our guests here in the first week, before they’ve found their own favorites.

Go for the Schnitzel — it’s the size of the plate, and they still do it the proper way, pounded thin and pan-fried, not the frozen stuff you get at half the places closer to the lift. The Kaspressknödelsuppe (fried cheese dumpling soup) is the move on a cold day, and it’s cheap enough that nobody will judge you for ordering it as a starter and dessert.

Tables fill up fast around 12:30 and 19:00 with the lunch/dinner crowd from the lifts, so if you want to sit outside on the terrace, either go right when it opens or after 20:00. Ask for Stefan if he’s working the floor — tell him the chalet sent you and he usually finds room even when it looks full.

One thing to know: they’re closed on Tuesdays, and card payment sometimes goes down when it’s busy, so carry a bit of cash just in case.
