A Quiet Corner of the Austrian Alps

Piesendorf sits in the heart of Salzburg's Pinzgau region, facing the Kitzsteinhorn glacier and the Großglockner — Austria's highest peak — with the untouched wilderness of Hohe Tauern National Park at its back. It's a rare position: close enough to the slopes of Kitzbühel and Zell am See for a morning on the mountain, quiet enough by evening that the loudest sound is the stream below the terrace.

Life here moves at its own pace. Locally sourced Pinzgauer cuisine, alpine wellness culture, and a discretion long favoured by those who'd rather not be found. Our guests tend to return season after season — not for the address, but for how little they have to think about once they arrive.

Getting Around

From the Chalet to Zell am See

The chalet sits in Walchen, a hamlet of Piesendorf, at the quiet end of the valley. From there the Pinzgau opens up: Kaprun and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier are a short drive south for year-round skiing, and the lake town of Zell am See sits at the northern end, reachable along the valley floor without ever touching a motorway.

Nothing out here is more than about twenty minutes from the door — close enough for a spontaneous afternoon in town, far enough that the chalet stays a retreat rather than a base camp.

Very comfortable. Will want to visit again. This is very nice and comfortable villa. Living room with open kitchen, large dinner table and sofas is quite big and it was very nice for 9 people for evening together time. Bedrooms where small but just enough. 3 bathrooms are OK for 9 people. Big and nice electric sauna is huge PLUS. There is also nice ski-room with heated boot stands. Washing machine and dryer was very important addition.

The Valley Does Not Close When the Snow Goes

Most people know this corner of the Pinzgau as a ski region. The summer here is quietly better — emptier, greener, and with a road and a reservoir that are worth the trip on their own.
